So what does the Power Team line have now that I wanted to take a look at? After seeing this playset a few months ago at Toy Fair, I knew it was something I wanted to get when I saw it available. This set is currently available for pre-order at Power Team USA, and is at KBToys.com as well. Is this set worth your hard earned cash, read on to find out…

Let's first start off with listing all the accessories this set has to offer. This may take a bit, so sit back and relax ;) Included are the following: three various M-16 rifles; one bazooka; one mortar launcher; one heavy caliber gun (or grenade launcher) with ammo loop and container for the loop, with tripod; a set of binoculars; one laptop computer; set of table and two folding chairs; two crates with opening tops; two barrel drums; one gas can; briefing board with map; wooden case with three shells; two communications back-packs with straps; two various back packs with straps; one tripwire mine; two sandbag walls; small barbed wire fence between two posts (fake wire fence of course); a four wheeled ATV; and finally a military motorcycle. Whew! And that's all the accessories. Of course there are figures too, not two, not three, but six in this set! It's a small squad and their own base; you can't go wrong there at all.

Now I could tell you how poseable these figures are, or how cool almost all of those accessories are. But as you can see in the pictures, these figures sport more articulation than most other 3 ¾ inch figures, and their accessories are all highly detailed and sturdy in this set. In some Power Team sets I have gotten, the guns were attached to the figures, causing serious warping of the gun. At least in this set the guns are packaged separately, so no warping was found at all. My other favorite accessory is the Laptop, which just looks cool. With the detailed keyboard layout and its green readout of movement on it, it really does look like something carried out in the field.

Of course, you want to know about those little vehicles that are in this set, don't you? The ATV and the Military Motorcycle are nice additions to any convoy. The ATV sports four individual rolling tires, and a handlebar that turns. While the handlebar does not turn the front wheels, it's a nice detail that makes me like this ATV a lot. The motorcycle is nicely detailed too, and has a kickstand for free standing display. It too has a turning handlebar, and it does turn the front tire. While both of these could have used maybe a little more paint application to bring out the detailing, they are still good looking enough for me. Then again, with such a simple paint scheme of green and black mostly, it can make customizing them much easier…

Finally, there is the playset itself. The Battle Command post has two stories, with the first floor having two windows, double doors, and steps up to a small platform on the right or back of the room. On the second floor is the roof, with hand rails for posing figures against. How do your soldiers get up to the upper level you ask? That's the coolest part to me - an opening hatch just above the platform on the first floor - with its own built in ladder no less! This small attention to detail just shows how impressive this set is. There is also the small button in front of the first floor platform, which activates an Air Raid siren sound. Not too loud to disturb the parents, loud enough to still be cool. The front of the building is a nice and detailed, with some scarring from being fired upon, and looks unassuming enough in its own right. Even if you just use the front of the building, it does act as a nice back drop for your figures.

Bottom Line

The Bottom Line - priced between $20 and $30, this set provides a lot of bang for your buck. With six figures, tons of weapons and accessories, two small vehicles, and the playset itself, your money is well spent. If you use this set with just the Power Team figures, or with other 3 ¾ inch figures, it will be a perfect addition to your collection. I cannot recommend it enough. If you do get this set at Power Team USA, be sure to tell them TheMatrix8475 sent you by.
