Well,
a pre-order I made a couple months back and nearly forgot
about came in over the weekend, and I was very excited to
say the least. Coming from Qwiksand
Collectibles, this set of the Microman Batman and Batgirl,
as well as the individual Catwoman, really stand out in my
small Microman collection. Are these figures big enough in
stature to add to your collection? Read on to find out…
Batman and Batgirl
This 2 pack comes with one guy, and one girl. Batman is the
same as an earlier released version, with all the same accessories
- a water breather; grappling hook handle, hook, and flexible
plastic rope; figure stand; and a set of hands for use in
various poses. Batgirl, on the other hand, has simply a big
purse like item that attaches to her hip, with the Bat symbol
on it. Talk about stereotyping - geez.
Still, this set does sport the Microman poseable body, which
is just about, if not more so, poseable than even many Marvel
Legends on the market, all in a 3 ¾" to 4" scale. This poseability
helps these figures stand out. Added to Batgirl even is a
cape, that unlike Bats, can go up on a hinge, as well as her
red hair. This adds a little more to the figure, and makes
me long for a hinge on Batman's stiff cape as well. At least
this Batman has a new paint job, unlike the over-washed look
of the previous one. With an all black outfit and an emblem
that screams "Micheal Keaton" Batman, this figure rocks.
Overall this set is really nice, and allows you to have each
gender in the Microman body styles. They also look great standing
together, ready to take on the crime ridden shelves of your
collection…
Catwoman
Unlike the recent trash heap of a movie with Halle Berrie
and Benjamin Bratt (oh poor Benjamin, if only you were still
on Law and Order people might respect you), the Microman -
or is it Microlady? - figure is the cat's meow. Sporting her
look from the recent Jim Lee art run in the Batman books (I
hope I am right about this - if not just email me and let
me know) with the snazzy goggles and sleek new outfit, Catwoman
looks ready to steal your heart and your goodies.
With a ton of accessories, including her whip, the set of
Microman hands, and even a set of hands with claws, she is
tricked out. The best accessory, though, is the extra head.
No, she doesn't have some weird mutant ability to generate
an extra head, she comes with one head with goggles on, and
one with goggles off, so you can see her sexy eyes. Let's
hope she doesn't bat those baby blues towards any of my Joes…she
might just get a few of our nations top secrets out of them
;)
Catwoman is a great catch, and well worth adding to your collection.
Now if I can only get the Baroness from Cobra to stop trying
to drown her….
Bottom Line
The Bottom Line is this – these figures are starting
to show up here and there at comic shops and online retailers.
I myself got my set from Qwiksand
Collectibles in a very timely fashion – thanks Sandy!
- and they both were worth the investment. At prices between
$15 to $20 on average for Bats and Batgirl, and about $10
to $15 for Catwoman, they are an easy sell to me and many
collectors out there. Let’s hope we see more licensed
characters come out in this line, such as the recent Godzilla
Wars! figures. So if you haven’t gotten them already,
and you are a fan of small scale figures or superheroes, start
looking now, they may not be around for long…good hunting!
