At the time I bought this figure, Marvel Legends Series VI (Six) was just coming out in force around my area in stores. While plenty of Wolverine's and Punishers and Cables from this set could be found, more elusive figures have yet to grace any pegs in my area. However, when I went to go and pick up my comics on Friday at my local shop, I saw Series VII (Seven) on the pegs. Granted, not the whole series, but I saw Ghost Rider, the new Iron Man, and this guy, Weapon X. I paid $11.99 at the comics shop for him, and while it was a little more than regular retail (which he will be out in soon I hope), he was worth the dough. Why you ask? Read on t find out…
Simply put, this Weapon X / Wolverine figure rocks. He seems to be the right height, has a great slender but muscular build to him, and for once in the history of this character, the claws on mine and all that I saw at the comic shop were not bent, warped, droopy, or going in wild directions. This alone makes the Weapon X figure stand out. Now while this figure doesn't have the super articulation like the Silver Surfer had, he does have the ball-and-socket joints at his hips and shoulders, double joints at the knees and elbows, along with rotating wrists and calves. He can be put in some great poses still, and no matter what position he is in Weapon X looks awesome.
Now as for accessories, this guy comes with plenty. Hoses attached to two small hip packs plug in with small pegs into the hips of the figure, and the ends of the hoses plug right in where the base of the claws ore on the hands. While the hole on the hand is a little big, it can be forgiven in how cool this looks. Also included is a separate head with its own hopes attached to a pack, which plugs in the front of the figure right below his stomach area. The head has the training helmet sculpted in, and the red visor is painted with a kind of glowing red paint, giving it a sci-fi feel to it. Finally is the 'tank' that comes with Weapon X, and while he is not submersible into it, it does have four hoses that can be plugged into the various posts onto the figure's body. With a little work you can make it seem as if Wolverine is trying to break free from his captors.
This figure looks spectacular in any light, and in any angle, and I am happy to add him to my collection.
Bottom Line
Bottom Line - While not out at retail quite yet, if you check around your comic shops he should be there. Seemingly part of a case pack with Series VII of 2 per case, along with Iron Man and Ghost Rider, he should be easier to find than the one per case (for now) Apocalypse, Hawkeye, and Vision. If you can wait till this figure hits the main retail stores though, which shouldn't be too long, he should be priced at a reasonable $7 to $8. At that price, you won't go wrong.
