Sculpting
: Well, as you can see in the pics,
there is no O-ring. This does not hurt their review
at all really. What does hurt is Heavy Duty and his sculpting.
I don't know what it is about him, but he doesnt 'jump'
out at me at all. He is a decent sculpt, on par with other
Joes in this line, but he seems almost like a generic Joe.
Plus his hands are molded in too far an open grip in that
he can't even hold his gun properly. The C.L.A.W.S figure,
however, does stand out. I think he is the best scuplted
figure of the Cobras this time around, with a highly detailed
uniform and mask. He almost feels like an elite of the elite
of the Crimson Guard. Add to that a decent sculpt on hands,
and a holster at his side, he stands out. Too bad Heavy
Duty hurts this rating some.

Articulation : One could say that without the O-ring, there is slightly
less posability in the new Joe figures. That is true, but
they do retain all the other posability that they are known
for. Ball-and-Socket shoulders, swivel arm battle-grip (I
love saying that), knee joints, and ball-and-socket necks.
The necks are different in that that they can bend down
and up a little further, and can turn around 360 degrees,
allowing for some great head poses that the first Joes in
1982 did not have, and improved slowly through the 80s and
90s. Replacing the O-ring is a standard straight leg
up and down for the upper leg, and right to left torso joint
above the hips. Heavy Duty wouldn't need an O-ring really.
I don't see him bending down too much. With such a broad
shoulder set too he is the hardest of the Joes to really
use the full potential of their posability. The C.L.A.W.S
however, is very well suited to the new design, and can
be put in just about any pose needed. He can grip is bazooka
like weapon easily, as well as stand at attention fairly
well too. Not too shabby for a figure with no O-ring.

Accessories : OK, this category is the
weakest of all of them for these two figures. First, Heavy
Duty has the Original Roadblock's old gun, which he can
barely hold. If you are going to get a gun witha figure,
lets hope he can hold it. Too bad, I guess Heavy Duty can
point at the enemy with his one finger extended. The C.L.A.W.S
has even more bizarre weaponry, a bazooka? If he is a shock
trooper fine, but he doesn't look that way. He should have
a nice rifle with a sling to carry on his shoulder, or maybe
an uzi. Wait, he does have an uzi, that fits in his holster
on his hip. That at least makes some sense. Too bad, I wanted
to give a higher rating here, but I just can't.

Painting and Design: If I were grading one figure, and it was the C.L.A.W.S one,
this would be a 10. Expertly painted green eyes on his mask,
the gold mixed perfectly with red, the boots, the no running
of paint. A truly remarkable looking figure. But this two
pack has Heavy Duty, with bland tan, some brown, and some
green to mix it up...just not enough. To think Hasbro did
such a great job on one figure, and the other...well lets
just say I think the painter got half the battle fought,
and retreated on the other half.

Overall
If this were a two pack of just the C.L.A.W.S figure, I
would without a doubt reccomend it. Even with the bazooka
weapon you can at least change that out. But Heavy Duty
is the real fault of this pack. He is unappealing in every
way, and makes for a poor figure, the worst of this new
line so far. And thats hard to say since all the others
are so great. If you really want the C.L.A.W.S figure, and
want a Joe that is boring, this is a pack to get. Otherwise,
check around and see if you can get the C.L.A.W.S by itself,
it alone is worth the $8 bucks or so the 2-pack is.
